Molinari & Sons

Poster by Primo Angeli for Molinari & Sons , with Primo Angeli Design , . This 1981 commemorative poster marks the ninety-third anniversary of P.G. Molinari & Sons Delicatessen. Why the ninety-third? We had just completed the branding program and it sounded like a good idea at the time. I jammed this composition with typography, Italian imagery, cancellation marks, signatures, USDA meat stamps, an illustration of Coit Tower, a portrait of founder P.G. Molinari, and parts of a high school essay from one of the Molinari children. The piece was printed in eight colors and a glossy finish. For me it was a one-year plaything before I ended the project. There was no deadline. Pablo Picasso may have been correct in concluding that a piece is never finished; one has simply stopped working on it.
